We made jewellery for other people for five years. Then we made our own.
The bench came first
Before Carat Hills was a brand, it was a bench in Jaipur.
For five years we made silver jewellery — rings, studs, pendants, thousands of them, carrying other people's names. We set the stones, polished the metal, packed the boxes, and watched them go.
What happened to them after they left is the reason this brand exists.
We know what is inside these pieces, because we put it there
We have set cubic zirconia. We know exactly what it costs, how well it photographs, and what it looks like after a year on someone's hand — clouded, scratched, dull.
We have seen what a piece costs to make, and we have seen what the same piece sells for. In this category the second number is usually four to six times the first, and nothing is added in between.
And we have watched the result: a woman buys what she was told was a diamond, it goes cloudy inside a year, and she decides silver jewellery is a waste of money. She is not wrong about what she was sold. She was just never sold the real thing.
We were not reading about this. We were at the bench.
So we stopped supplying the problem
Carat Hills is what happens when the people making the jewellery sell it directly instead.
There is nobody between our bench and your hand. No distributor's cut. No brand margin stacked on top of a factory margin. One set of hands, one price.
Real stones, always
Natural gemstones, or lab grown diamonds that are chemically and optically diamond. Never cubic zirconia — not at any price, not in any design, not even where it would be invisible to you and worth a few hundred rupees to us.

Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting to be discounted. Your piece is made when you ask for it, and it leaves in two days.
Hallmarked when the law does not ask us to
Silver hallmarking in India is voluntary. Most brands skip it. Every piece we make carries a BIS mark and a HUID you can check yourself.

A design starts as wax. It is cast, filed, set, polished and checked — each step by a different person who has done only that step for years.
When your order arrives, it goes onto these benches. Not into a box that was already packed.
On price
We do not multiply our cost by four.
Our price is the silver by weight, the stone, the hours at the bench, the plating, the hallmarking, the box, the courier — and a margin small enough that we have to sell well to survive.
That is a slower way to build a business. It is the only kind we could put our own name on.
Who this is for
Most jewellery in India is bought for somebody else's occasion, usually with somebody else's money. A wedding. A festival. A gift chosen by a husband, a mother, a mother-in-law.
This is not that.
This is for the woman who earns her own money and buys her own jewellery, on an ordinary Tuesday, for no reason except that she wanted it. No occasion. Nobody's permission.
