Silver care

Silver tarnishes. That's normal, and it's reversible — it's also one of the easiest ways to tell real silver from plated brass, which doesn't tarnish the same way.

Storing it

Keep each piece in the pouch it arrived in, away from direct sunlight and humidity. Don't leave pieces loose together in a drawer — silver touching silver, or silver touching other metals, speeds up tarnishing.

Wearing it

Put your jewellery on after perfume, deodorant and hairspray, not before — these speed up tarnishing more than anything else. Take it off before swimming, bathing, or sleeping.

Cleaning it

Wipe with the polishing cloth we send with every order. Ten seconds of polishing brings the shine back. For pieces with a stone, wipe around the setting rather than pressing directly on the stone.

If your piece is rhodium-plated

Statement and Hero pieces carry a rhodium finish for extra shine. This plating typically lasts 6–18 months with regular wear in Indian conditions, depending on how often you wear it and your skin's chemistry. When it wears down, the silver underneath is still genuine 925 — polishing it restores a matte-bright finish, just not the mirror-white rhodium look.

One honest note

We can't promise a piece will never tarnish — no real silver brand can, and if one tells you otherwise, that's worth being cautious about. What we can promise is that with the care above, a Carat Hills piece stays wearable for years.
